Ex e / Ex t Temperatursensorer

Ex e - increased safety, for gas zones 1 or 2
Ex t - dust-protected enclosure, for dust areas.

  • The sensor is an ATEX and/or IECEx-certified, Ex e-type, Pt100 or TC sensor, which can also be used for dust areas, thanks to its dust-protected Ex t enclosure.
  • The measuring circuit can be cabled to a safe area and to a standard device (no ATEX/IECEx requirements).

ATEX

  • The SKS Group has been granted an ATEX Quality Assurance Notification (VTT 02 ATEX Q001) as required under EU directive 94/9/EC. The notification, issued by VTT Expert Services Ltd., gives the right to manufacture Ex e and Ex t temperature sensors and to assemble Ex d temperature sensors for use in explosive atmospheres. Please find a copy of the notification below.
  • When ATEX certified sensor types are needed, we will manufacture e.g. Ex II 2 GD Ex e II T1-T6 Ex tD A21 IP66 approved sensors. Please find copies of the product certificates below.
  • Our currently certified products are presented below.
  • We can manufacture and apply for authorization also for different kind of Ex e-designs, which are to be individually agreed. Please contact our Ex experts.
  
     

 

IECEx

  • The SKS Group's sensor manufacturing operations have been assessed in an IECEx Quality Assessment Report (FI/VTT/QAR14.0001/01) as required by the EN ISO/IEC 80079-34 standard. The auditing organization was VTT Expert Services Ltd. The report gives the right to manufacture Ex e, Ex t and Ex d type temperature sensors for use in explosive atmospheres and to apply for IECEx approval for them. Please find a copy of the IECEx QAR report below.
  • When IECEx product certified sensor types are needed, we will apply for authorization for existing sensor types or produce new ones. IECEx product certificates are applied for on request.

Approvals
The Ex e type SKS Sensors® temperature sensors are Ex II 2 GD approved, and they are applicable for Ex zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. The product certificates give more detailed specifications, e.g. the ambient temperatures allowed for the approved sensors.  

VTT 02 ATEX Q 001 (pdf) (updated 24.1.2014) is a manufacturer's ATEX Quality Assurance Notification, which gives the right to produce Ex e and Ex t type temperature sensors and to assemble Ex d type temperature sensors for usi in explosive atmospheres.

FI/VTT/QAR14.0001/01 » (updated 28.8.2015) is a manufacturer's IECEx Quality Assessment Report, which gives the right to manufacture Ex e, Ex t and Ex d type temperature sensors for use in explosive atmospheres and to apply for IECEx approval for them.

Product documentation

SKS Ex e sensors (pdf) (updated 11-2015) is our brochure for all currenly approved Ex e type temperature sensors. For each sensor the pdf file includes:

  • copy of the sensor data sheet, including dimensional drawing, material and connecting data
  • copy of the ATEX and/or IECEx product certificate.

A datasheet without a signature is not a valid document. A valid, signed document and an ATEX declaration of conformity will be delivered along with the approved sensor. The currently approved sensor types are:
